Although it has been available for many years, the Tamiya F4F-4 is the best Wildcat kit available in 1/48th scale.  This model was built for a review in the Detail & Scale Wildcat book.  As such, it was built out of the box, and kit decals were used for the F4F-4 flown by the squadron commander of VF-22 aboard the light carrier USS INDEPENDENCE, CVL-22, in 1943.  Model Master enamels were used to apply the tri-color camouflage scheme used at that time.
