Eduard P-38F Löök for the Tamiya Kit — 1:48 Scale

Tamiya’s outstanding 1:48 P-38F/G is an amazing kit, but the instrument panel is a little lackluster for many detail oriented modelers (see our review HERE).  If you are building the -F version from this kit, Eduard does produce some excellent pre-painted instrument panel parts in a few different sets, but for some, an even more attractive solution is the P-38F instrument panel offered in the Eduard Löök product line.

This set comes with one resin part that is cast in black resin and then painted using Eduard’s production process.  Eduard has also included their pre-painted STEEL set for the P-38F shoulder harnesses and lap belts.

The resin part is a fully three-dimensional casting with appropriately raised instrument bezels, switches, knobs, and other details such as individual yellow and red instrument bezels.  It is designed to drop into the kit.  The precision-painted instrument dial faces are the real highlight.  Consulting my P-38F references, each dial looks well represented, and you can visually identify and distinguish between the compass, altimeter, airspeed indicator, and so forth.  Then, Eduard dropped in a bit of their distortion-free, self-leveling clear glass treatment (I think it’s a clear gel medium) atop each dial face.

The STEEL photoetched seatbelts set also comes with the Löök instrument panel.  As mentioned in previous reviews, these look great and contain details including stitching and even nice some shading/shadow effects.

For the quality and detail that it brings to the table, this great Löök set it is also very well priced.  We extend our sincere thanks to Eduard for the review sample.  You can visit them on the web at http://www.eduard.com  and on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/EduardCompany/
