Eduard’s MiG-21s are the best in 1:48 scale, and their MiG-21PF kit can be found in a few different boxings over years.  Straight out-of-the-box, some aspects of their cockpit details are a little simplified.  This Löök set is intended to help rectify this issue.

Eduard # 644089 MiG-21PF Löök (MSRP= $12.95) comes with four cast resin parts for the pilot’s instrument panel and gunsight/aiming reticle assembly, along with a pre-painted photoetched metal fret containing seven parts.  The Löök parts are designed to drop into the kit without any extra work.  The resin elements are fully three-dimensional castings with appropriately raised instrument bezels, switches, knobs, and other details.  The precision-painted instrument dial faces treated with Eduard’s raised glass effect are a real highlight.  The color used here for Soviet turquoise-blue cockpit color looks like a pretty good approximation of that unique shade.

A set of photoetched metal parts round out this set and contains parts for the ejection seat.  These look really great. The PE parts contain detailed shoulder harnesses and lap belts (including stitching and even some shading/shadow effects), and the ejection handle.  These will add some details for where the kit’s ejection seat need help the most.

Overall, the set does a very solid job representing the MiG-2PF instrument panel and ejection seat details.  For the value that it brings, this Löök set is also very well priced.
